When comparing the Jaybird Freedom F5 vs x3, there’s more than just a price difference on offer. However, until you try both, those differences can be hard to spot on looks alone.

The Jaybird Freedom F5 headphones are, on first glance, far smaller than the X3. In fact, they are easily some of the smallest headphones on the market.

Seeing the need for small buds to fit small ears, Jaybird made a conscious effort to cater to those who desire a more snug and comfortable fit.

However, the x3s offer a sleek and unmatched design, with buds that are both comfortable and interchangeable depending on your preference.

1. Color

Jaybird Freedom F5 Colors

The beauty of both is how many color options are available to suit a wide range of tastes.

While other models are limited in color options, these two headphones enable you to pick and choose to match your device to your earwear.

The Jaybird X3 offers Alpha Green, Blackout, RoadRash Red, and Sparta White. Whereas F5 comes in a choice of Carbon, Gold, Black, Blaze, and Ocean.

If you’re looking for the cheapest option, and you’re not too fussed on what color your potential new headphones are, the cheapest options are Black for Freedom F5, and Sparta White for x3.

2. Battery Life – This is Why I Love My X3 So So Much!

Jaybird Freedom F5 vs x3 - Battery Life

When it came to creating the battery for both the F5 and x3 models, Jaybird thought a little outside the square.

Whereas most manufacturers of wireless headphones install the batteries into the earbuds, Jaybird installed them in the volume remote.

The result is a heavy, slightly cumbersome remote that can get in the way if you’re out for a run, or even at the gym.

However, if you put the remote aside and focus purely on battery time, it’s clear to see there might be a clear winner in the battle.

On paper, Jaybird has advertised that both models can cater to your music needs for up to eight hours.

However, how they tested that is yet to be determined. From trial and error, it has been discovered that x3 can certainly last eight hours or a little less.

but the F5 cannot.

In fact, it has a battery life of half that, unless of course, you add the charging cradle to the remote which makes it all the more cumbersome.

The charging cradle has two pins and fits into the small bag that arrives with your headphones.

Instead of charging via micro USB – as is standard for most electronic devices – you join the pins to the headphones to add four extra hours to your playtime.

It might seem a little backward, but our theory is that a micro USB port would increase the risk of sweat, dirt, and grime making its way into the interior components of the headphones. It might even be a stroke of genius on their part.

3. Sound

If you’re looking at Jaybird Freedom F5 vs x3 regarding sound quality, you’re not going to find too many differences.

  • check course, they are never going to be as sharp or as good quality as earphones that go over your ears, rather than in them, but there’s no denying both Jaybird headphones are in a league of their own. The sound is crisp, clear, and the treble and bass on offer are out of this world. However, there’s more to the sound on offer than meets the eye. By downloading the Jaybird MySound app, you’re able to customize your listening experience to ensure the right music is matched with the right sound levels (e.g., bass vs. treble). You can even converse with other Jaybird users and copy their setup for the best results.
  • check if you’re looking to increase your sound quality past what is available through MySound, ensure the earbuds are fitting as snuggly as possible within your ear canal. Doing so ensures the sound is far crisper.Of course, it’s important to remember that being wireless with Bluetooth capabilities, and being located within your ear, you can only expect so much from them.

4. Connectivity: It’s Really Hard To Choose

When you’re making the transition from wired to wireless headphones, it’s okay to be dubious about how effective the connection is going to be. After all, not all wireless or Bluetooth devices are created equally.

However, it’s fair to say there is no clear winner. Both headphones perform exceptionally well, with at least 30 feet of connectivity available for both iOS and Android devices.

It normally takes about five seconds to make a connection, and both headphones run on the same 4.1 standard Bluetooth connection. As a result, you not only get to pair up your headphones to your device with ease, but your friend can as well.

Two sets of Jaybird Freedom F5 or x3 headphones can be paired with the same device!
